The
initial inspiration for the spectacular in 2005, 'Battle &
Banquet', came from Ann Llewellin and Keith Underwood, both
of whom have been involved in son et lumieres for many years, including
those at Chepstow, Tintern and Caldicot. That event however was on a much
smaller scale and enabled the audience to feel really involved in the
action.
Other
members of the team provided a variety of skills, including fund-raising,
design, lighting, sound and publicity.
Following
public demand, the team staged 'Arthur @ Usk-a-lot'
in 2006, which took a very different shape from the son et lumiere
of 2006. A real core of expertise, both on and off stage, has now been
created, and is once again being put to good use in this year's proposed
offering, 'The De Burgh-a Murders'.
Rosie
and Henry Humphreys, who own Usk Castle through Usk Castle Trustees, support
all these events.
Usk
Castle Pageant Ltd is a registered not-for-profit company, set up to produce
'Battle & Banquet'. Any profits will go to local causes, with the
Castle being the major recipient, as it starts a long programme of renovation
to stop it crumbling away.
